Almost as good as a husband
My situation leading up to the purchase of this blanket is a bit convoluted but bear with me. 4 years ago my beloved husband of almost 40 years passed away. I was very used to his warmth and protection all night long. I had purchased a 100% goose down comforter but hadn’t yet used when Alex died. I felt that goose down was the ultimate in bedding and cold weather clothing (at $500 the comforter was worth it) and I got all my down products from one place. I was a little disappointed because the down was so light but I had appreciated that in the clothing I had so I kept on. Our winters here in the Pacific Northwest are considered mild but for me it is often cold but I don’t mind because I hate the heat. I rarely turn heat on especially in the bedroom. But there were nights when I was a bit cold and opted for heavier pajamas. Over the next 3 years a number of emergencies cropped up (trouble rarely comes in single digits) but by the beginning of 2024 I thought things were stabilized. I had a roommate who was good and I was working toward a calm future. In February IT happened. It being a house fire accidentally started by a guest. We were able to retrieve our phones and purses and my winter down coat. We thought we would be able to go back and get more because the fire was contained in the kitchen. Then we were told that there was asbestos and only certain things could be rescued after cleaning and restoration by the “experts” which I had to pay for. Basically in one day, 40 years of my life were destroyed. And for the most part it was the items that meant the most that couldn’t be saved. Clothing and furniture can be replaced but the small things that represented memories were gone. Also I have several illnesses that have disabled me for a number of years and the fire made my health hit rock bottom. We were finally able to relocate into another apartment and I’m trying to put my life together one day at a time. Getting insurance to pay up isn’t easy especially since they only pay the depreciated cost of each item, not replacement cost. And thus we come to the blanket. For a number of months I haven’t had a warm blanket (there were so many other things that took precedence). I had been sleeping under my down coat (it was ankle length) but being almost 6’ tall it couldn’t cover everything. After receiving one payment related to the restoration of items lost, I decided that a blanket was a necessity. Since I’d been living in pajamas and one pair of ripped jeans I did have to buy some clothing but I took to searching here for bedding. At first I was sure that a down comforter was the only answer but being constrained by cost I decided that an ordinary blanket would possibly work at least until I could afford down. Reviewing what was available I saw the heavy blankets filled with ceramic beads and I was intrigued by this idea I’d never heard of before. As an artist I’ve worked with tiny beads in the creation of jewelry but the entire process of a “heavy” blanket was new to me. However the price was reasonable and I was tired of sleeping underneath my coat and a shawl for warmth. So I ordered. It just arrived today and the weight of it was, at first, was startling. I got the 15# which was best for me and immediately curled up under it. I will update my review after I’ve had a chance to actually sleep under it but my first impression was WOW! I was immediately impressed by how comfortable it was and how it regulated my body heat. I tend to sleep on the hot side even in winter but this blanket didn’t overheat me and it doesn’t feel overly heavy once you get used to it. It really does feel like a gigantic hug and cuddle from a loved one. I just can’t get over how wonderful it feels and I’m looking forward to analyzing my sleep issues in the weeks to come. I do realize that in summer I will probably have to switch to a light cotton quilt but we’ll see what happens then. For now I’d tell everyone out there to try this amazing blanket and see how it feels to be comforted as well as warm. Happy sleeping! UPDATE: A few days later Well I’ve had a chance to sleep under this incredible blanket and what I have to say is WOW!! At first I was a little nervous about the weight because as I’ve said I’m used to down. And the weight was significant for me because I’d forgotten that I can’t tolerate weight on my feet. No matter how cold, I’ll keep my feet uncovered and just wear socks if it’s really frigid. It was too heavy for my feet but I rearranged the blanket so my feet were uncovered and that has made it comfortable. The rest of the weight takes getting used to and I was a little apprehensive but fortunately we’ve been having a cold snap so warmth was needed. My first night I was aware of how comfortable and cozy I felt whenever I woke up (and I wake up a lot) and how quickly I went back to sleep. Not once did I feel chilled or in need of more covers. No matter how cold the room is, the minute you pull the blanket up around your shoulders you feel cuddled and safe. The other thing that’s turned out so well is my cat Jackson. In the fire he lost his bonded mate Jilly-B and wasn’t found himself for 24 hours. He spent a night in the vet hospital and wasn’t found himself fine but he really misses his girl. He wants to sleep with me all the time but wasn’t happy about the bed covers and often went off to sleep with my roommate. When I unfolded this blanket he examined it as only a cat can and decided that it definitely passes inspection. He now sleeps here, kneads the pile making “bread and butter” and has given it the royal cat seal of approval. I haven’t seen him approve of anything this quickly. So all in all I’d have to say this deserves at least 10 stars. FINAL UPDATE: Have had this for a couple of months and things just keep getting better every day. One of the best things I’ve noticed is the absence of my former panic attacks in the morning. I used to wake up terrified and shaking, either from dreams I couldn’t remember or just for no reason. That has stopped completely. It did take me about a week to get used to the weight but it was a pretty minor issue. My only problem (if you want to call it that) is that I tend to sleep in a very cold room. Living in the Pacific Northwest our overnight temps can easily reach freezing or below in winter. Putting the heat on means you have to stay alert to turn it off, no timer, and too much heat plays havoc with my sinuses. I discovered that on those nights that I needed more help with warmth in the bed. So I’m going to try to add either a down blanket or another Wemore Sherpa blanket. I’m sure it will be a problem easily solved.

Soft, warm, wonderful construction, and no shifting of beads
I was initially introduced to the weighted blankets by a friend who gifted me one of a different brand of the same size and a weight of 12 lbs. I really liked the gifted blanket that actually cost twice as much as this one, but wanted to try one with more weight. I got this burgundy blanket at 15 lbs., and decided to try the the 20 lb. one in grey (burgundy wasn't available). Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference in the weight when each of them was on my bed. So, I returned the 20 lb. grey one since burgundy matches the color scheme in my bedroom. There are so many things I love about this blanket. The burgundy color is actually burgundy and not red. It is not a dark burgundy, but is definitely burgundy. Although the blanket as a whole is heavy, it doesn't feel heavy when you sleep under it. Although a blanket weight is recommended depending on your weight, the size of the blanket is not considered. For example, an 15 lb. blanket would feel much heavier in a twin size than a queen size as the weight is distributed over a much larger area. Then blanket size is not considered in the recommendations. This blanket does not have any of the "scrunchy" feel or sounds that the more expensive blanket has. This may be due to the 7 layers of padding in this blanket. To sum it up, this blanket is so soft and comfy it will easily replace my comforters for the winter. I should also mention that I recently have been measuring my sleep on Samsung Watch 3 and my sleep scores have much improved since using this blanket. Prior to using this blanket, my sleep score was usually around 49 because I was awake so much of the night from tossing and turning. Since I have using this blanket my sleep scores have been consistently around 70 because I have been waking up much less during the night, and have been getting more deep sleep. UPDATE 05/06/22: Since I tend to be cold at night in the winter, I had been using this blanked primarily in the wintertime for extra warmth. This year, since spring is here, I decided to take this blanket off my bed and use lighter weight blankets for the summer. Boy, was this a mistake!! I had gotten so used to the secure and cuddly feeling provided by this blanket, I couldn't sleep, and I woke up quite a few times in the night. This was also reflected in my watch sleep scores. After a couple of nights with less good sleep, I put the blanket back on my bed. Surprisingly, I didn't get overheated at all, but I was sleeping sound again and my sleep scores immediately increased. After this experience, I will definitely be keeping this blanket on my bed for all seasons. Needless to say, I would highly recommend this blanket. I hope this review was helpful for you and will update this review if my opinion changes.

Like Sleeping in a Hug.
I got this for my wife as one of her Christmas presents. She had never tried to use one before, but very quickly fell in love with it. It is a very warm blanket to use on cold winter nights. She doesn't want winter to end 'cause she doesn't want to put the blanket away. At 60 x 80 it is the perfect size for a single adult, or cozy co-sleeping for two. 15lbs is still light enough that we have been able to wash and dry it at home with our 12 year old washer and dryer with no issues. It has held up very well with no signs of wear through weekly washing over the past two months. This blanket would be an excellent gift for anyone on your list.

It’s worth it, a hug in a blanket
I’m so glad I got this blanket. It’s soft and fuzzy and exactly what I was hoping for. I’m a nurse and sometimes I work night shifts and it can be brutal on my body trying to rest just to go back to work for another shift. The weight helped me get full sleep and I actually felt slightly better for that next shift than I usually do. My son got to use it and now he wants one too. Though it is pricier for a blanket than I’ve ever paid for, I feel that it has quality, comfort, and it’s worth on my rest will outlast the worry of cost.
