Truly Exceptional
I have viewed wine decanters (wrongfully) as a snake-oil thing, but I could NOT be more happy to be proved wrong! This thing is crazy! Firstly, it is a joy to watch. There was a little tiny bit that gets caught in the end of the funnel, but it is so little that it barely matters. I had LOTS of people over for the wine tasting with this and we did before/after comparisons. It was NIGHT and DAY between the same wine when decanted vs not decanted. Even for those that were accustomed to drinking the dry wine we were having, they said there was a notable difference. After it was decanted, it had a more softer and somehow less woody taste. Even those that hate dry wine and don't normally drink it admitted that the wine tasted better after it had been decanted. For one in particular that hates dry wine but wanted to try the decanter, she said it made dry wine go from "absolutely vile" to "not horrible" and they insisted that I put her quote in this review. It is 100% worth the cost for those that really care about wine, is quite classy, and is certainly a conversation piece. This is a great buy! As for assembly, there were no instructions but it was very easy and intuitive. You could easily assemble and disassemble this at will for storage.

It feels stable, and when the decanter is empty, you can carefully carry the entire setup by the black handle on top. I would still recommend being mindful when moving it, especially once it is filled, but overall the construction feels solid. One of the most enjoyable parts is simply watching the wine cascade down through the decanter. It creates a really striking visual effect that adds a bit of drama to serving. As for taste, I personally did not notice a significant difference, though I did not do a direct side by side comparison. Such a simple beautiful design yet is wonderful with my red wines. Simple to assemble. The decanter is tall with the glass thin and stylish. I have a few younger wines and decanting them softens them, allowing them to release more fragrance. Now I dont have to open a bottle and let it rest and wonder if it airated long enough. This decanter is quick but in the best ways. while my guests wait, plus its an attractive addition to my wine area. I think Ive sold several friends on getting them. Velvety wines are much better than the young astringent ones that a drank to soon. Its performs its function quite well and easily holds an entire bottle of wine. Its easily cleaned after use with a light rinse, then turned upside down to dry.
