Great Box, Great Sewing Box Too!

I actually love this box; it's a nice good size and I turned it into my new sewing box! The wood is a nice pleasant honey color, not super cheap or soft. Seems like a normal average hardness wood. It's not oak of course but it's fine. The latch is sturdy enough, the hinges seem of the same quality. The little colorful magnets inside are actually quite strong, and will hold whatever you need it to. I didn't like how they looked so I took them out (I'm using them on my fridge) and I used little cube magnets instead, I'll hold my sewing notes or something in there. Or I could stick a needle to the magnet to have it on hand. I tried out a few of my fridge magnets on the panel to see if they'd stick, and they did, although regular magnets have a more difficult time sticking because the felt over the top of the metal plate puts a little strain on the magnetism. Use strong magnets. The large compartment will fit quite a bit, a full size pair of sewing scissors fits diagonally. I was able to fit all of my sewing doodads and bits and bobs in there. Which is pretty good; since I'd bought a little sewing box from JoAnn's Fabrics a while back and that little thing wouldn't fit all of the stuff I put into this one! The bottom of the box has little rubber stick-on feet, so it won't scratch, though I imagine with time you might have to replace those. Seems like a good item, and very useful for me! I will be using this in my sewing room for many years to come.

Beautifully made keepsake box, with beautiful acacia wood grain

This very finely wood keepsake box is a good value at the listed price of about $40. The acacia wood has very interesting grain, with a range of dark grain lines with medium to lighter golden browns. It doesn't have as dramatic a range of dark to light wood as olive, for example, but the range is very pleasing (see photo). The finish is very fine and smooth, and all joins and corners are tight. The hinges are carefully and precisely inset, and the lid opens and closes smoothly. The flocked lining is smooth and well-adhered, for the most part. The top of the box has a metal lining under the flocked lining, which allows magnets to stick to it. A set of magnets is included, so that you can attach photos, etc., to the lid to display upon opening the box. The box latches firmly, to avoid falling open and allowing things to fall out. Overall, the box is very well made, and I am pleased with the appearance. My only complaint is that the keepsake box was packed inside the cardboard packing box without any protection, and there was no warning on the box itself such as "don't open with knife," etc. Unfortunately, I slide the point of a scissors over the tape to open the box, and scratched the wooden lid of the keepsake box (see photo). :-( I would advise people to open the box carefully.

Large and Well Made

Gorgeous solid wood box. It is so substantial...the wood is thick and it appears almost hand crafted. The inside is roomy with two compartments with a removable partition (I have not taken mine out as I like the separation). The inside of the lid is magnetic and it comes with what look like old board game pieces that are magnets to hold photos or papers. It is called a keepsake box but I am using it for remotes and guitar related items in my living room. It is WAY bigger than I expected it to be which is a bonus in my case. The hinges and latch are antique brass-style and compliment the wood grain and make this piece look vintage. The interior is lined with a thick suede-like lining that gives good protection for items inside and the wood as well. It is has a satin finish which again gives it that classic handmade look. It is definitely an attention grabber with its bold simplicity. At this price point for a solid acacia box of the quality I think it is a good value. Just be aware, it is not a dainty jewelry box...it's a BOX.

Large, elegant keepsake box

This is a very elegant storage box for keepsakes and memories. The box is a very pretty acacia wood, very smooth and has no flaws like splinters or scratches. The inside of the box is lined with a soft and slightly puffy felt material, which should help cushion the items inside. When I opened the box the first time, it did look like the felt material wasn't fully pressed into place and was bowing a little bit. I pressed it down and it hasn't moved since then, so for now I think it's ok. The divider bar is very tightly installed, but it is removable. That said, there is no liner under the bar, so there is an odd looking wooden "trench" line without it. If you're planning on using it without the divider, I would just order a different one that has no divider to start with so you have a smoothly lined box. The lid has a metal lining so that the enclosed magnets work. I'm not sure how useful of a feature this will turn out to be, but some people might like that.
